6. Hawkeye Didn't Show Up To Save The Day

Despite being one of the most forgettable Avengers, Hawkeye's absence from Infinity War's promotional material sparked a surprising amount of outrage in fans. Spurring them to go to Twitter and start the hashtag #WheresHawkeye, speculation around whether or not he would make it into the movie at all raged in the months leading up to its release, not helped by Marvel's cryptic statements that he was "retired" but still "had an important role to play".

Fans clung onto hope that he would make a surprise appearance - after all, what else would he be doing while the entire planet was under siege? - coming in at a pivotal moment to save the day, and perhaps have a long-overdue reunion with Black Widow.

Instead, though, Hawkeye's absence is explained away in a single line. Both him and Antman are said to have taken a sweet deal with the US government that virtually put them on house arrest, and that's all we get regarding their characters for the rest of the movie.

The hero has been spotted multiple times filming on set though, so it's a good guess that the filmmakers were simply saving him for a larger role in the next movie.
