Avengers: Infinity War: 10 Things That Must Happen

3. Thanos Actually Does... Something

The Marvel Cinematic Universe's biggest weakness, up to this point, has been its villains. Save for Loki, none of them have really permeated pop-culture or left a lasting impression like Heath Ledger's Joker, Doctor Octopus or Magneto did. Unfortunately, if the few slices of evidence we've been given are anything to go by, Thanos could follow this trend of lacklustre baddies based on his apparent inability to get things done.

Running down the list of feats Thanos has managed to accomplish is like reading a list of nice things Donald Trump has said. There aren't any. So far, the Mad Titan has sat down in his chair, turned and smiled at the camera, and shouted at Ronan in Guardians Of The Galaxy - that's it.

It took him an absolute age - between the Avengers and its sequel - to decide to 'do it himself' and even before that, he was getting Loki to do his dirty work before asking Ronan to do something similar.

Thanos won't become the great villain Marvel desperately need him to be if he continues to come across as inept. Let's see him do something truly brutal - perhaps ripping the Mind Gem from Visions' forehead, murdering innocent civilians or killing his own followers if they let him down.

Marvel must show us that he's in control, that he's formidable and that he's a force to be reckoned with, lest six years of hype and buildup result in a weak, disappointing payoff.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
