We know from the trailer (and before that, the reported-on footage people got to see at SDCC and D-23) that Thor would be meeting up with the Guardians in space - or rather, they'd find him floating through it - and now we're getting a clearer picture of what happens next.

While most of the Guardians will go elsewhere, Thor, Groot, and Rocket will be sticking together and heading off on their own, with EW saying the trio are "venturing through the galaxy on a mission to stop Thanos."

That mission includes a stop to get Thor a new weapon, which has already been glimpsed in promo art. EW reveals its name too: Stormbreaker. The article describes it as a "mystical ax" and a "supersized upgrade from his demolished hammer, Mjolnir."

It's a weapon taken from the comics, which was made by dwarves on the planet Nidavellir, and it's highly likely we'll be seeing the same thing happen here - except we can also expect Groot to give it its handle, and perhaps Peter Dinklage to appear here as well.
