3. Fans Were Expecting 76 Characters
Avengers: Infinity War is easily one of the most ambitious superhero movies ever made. The sheer volume of characters alone puts it on a dizzying scale far beyond anything that's ever been attempted within the genre before.
That said, the fans were led to believe the jam-packed cosmic showdown would feature an even bigger cast, by Thor actor Chris Hemsworth, no less. The star told Postmedia Network that Infinity War would feature a whopping 76 characters.
"This is one of the biggest things in film history and to be a part of it was just incredible. I think what these characters are about to face - with Thanos - there’s been nothing quite like it. There are 76 cast members or something like that."
Hemsworth was clearly psyched about the movie, and amid all of the hype, his maths ended up being way off the mark. Infinity War features almost 30 superheroes, and when you factor in the supporting cast, the headcount rises to around 40.
That in itself is a staggering number, but it's not quite 76. Is it, Chris?
