14. Heimdall

Cause of Death: Stabbed.

Idris Elba's talents have generally been pretty wasted as Heimdall, a bada** character who has never really got his fair shake, but was nevertheless able to go out a true hero.

When Thanos (Josh Brolin) and the Black Order attack the Asgardian refugee ship at the start of the movie, Heimdall is among the human wreckage, and in his final show of strength, he uses Dark Magic to send The Hulk safely to Earth.

Thanos tells him, "That was a mistake", before impaling him with Corvus Glaive's weapon. It's the first significant character death of the movie, and while not as affecting as it could've been if Heimdall was a better-developed character, was nevertheless a potent statement of intent for the rest of the film.
