Avengers: Infinity War - What Is Next For EVERY Character

27. Ant-Man

Ant Man Paul Rudd
Marvel Studios

Fate: MIA

Ant-Man may well be the single most important character in Avengers 4, because it will be he who is behind the "time travelling" element of the story. Because that time travelling is in fact going to be linked to dimension hopping, probably thanks to some technology introduced in Ant-Man And The Wasp and also on increased knowledge of the Quantum Realm.

So, in other words, expect Ant-Man's sequel to be very closely tied to Infinity War and Avengers 4 and for the tiny and sometimes giant hero to play a significant role in undoing what Thanos did at the end of Infinity War.

26. Cassie Lang

Fate: Unknown

If Ant-Man is going to unretire, you really have to be concerned about his daughter. Infinity War confirmed that Scott was under house arrest after taking a deal with the government, but set leaks have confirmed he's back in action as Ant-Man in the Avengers sequel, which might suggest that the reason he was willing to stay at home isn't there any more.

That personal tragedy would also further tie him to Hank Pym, which is no bad thing.

25. The Wasp

Ant-Man and the Wasp Evangeline Lilly
Marvel Studios

Fate: MIA

Like Scott Lang, The Wasp has been sitting Infinity War out, though she has less reason to do so, since she isn't under house arrest. Now, obviously she's not on the Avengers' radar yet, so that might account for it in some way, but you would have thought she'd be at least partly interested in the world being decimated.

There's a big assumption that she's going to be in Avengers 4, but there's still the possibility that she's clicked out of existence too. Half of the MCU's characters have to have gone, after all and it's unlikely the whole Ant-Man group made it through unscathed. But if she wasn't, she'll play an increased role as a new Avengers, with any luck.

24. Hank Pym

Fate: Unknown

The elder Ant-Man may not have survived the snap either, but we do know that he's in Avengers 4 thanks to Sebastian Stan, who unwittingly spoiled the fact by confirming he's involved in a big scene with EVERY character.

As for his specific role, if Ant-Man's plot is key to explaining time travel, then you can bet your bottom dollar that it's Hank's influence behind that tech in some way.

23. Janet Van Dyne

Ant Man And The Wasp Michelle Pfeiffer
Marvel Studios

Fate: Unknown

Like her husband, Janet Van Dyne - who we haven't even seen freed from the Quantum Realm yet - will be appearing in Avengers 4, according to Sebastian Stan. It'd be pretty mean to have her snapped to death immediately after her escape from the Quantum Realm, to be fair.

Before then though, we're actually going to see that escape in Ant-Man And The Wasp. VERY Exciting.

22. Hawkeye

Mcu Hawkeye
Marvel

Fate: MIA

Like Ant-Man, Hawkeye sat out Infinity War because of his obligations to his family. But we know Clint is coming back for Avengers 4 and the suggestion is that he's going to be coming back darker.

Set leaks have suggested that he's going to be in his Ronin guise from the comics and seeking revenge in the wake of Thanos' snap. So expect that big bad-ass turn we've all been waiting for.

21. 20. 19. & 18. Laura, Cooper, Lila & Nathaniel Barton

Clint Barton Laura Barton Age Of Ultron
Marvel Studios

Fate: Unknown

Unfortunately for Clint's family, the fact that he's said to be driven by revenge suggests that they're going to be revealed as more victims of Thanos' powers. Why else would Clint come out of retirement AND go dark?

Farewell, Bartons, we barely knew yee.
