BAFTAs 2020: 10 Ups & 5 Downs

9. Klaus Wins Best Animated Film

Surely the big surprise of the night was that the Best Animated Film award went to Netflix's indie animation Klaus, beating out Frozen II, A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, and Toy Story 4.

Given that the animated awards race is typically one of the most predictable and tedious, this year's has been positively exciting, what with Missing Link scoring a shock win at the Golden Globes, and Klaus defying all expectations to win the BAFTA.

Granted, it's still tough to believe that Toy Story 4 won't triumph at the Oscars, but in the very least this sufficiently shakes things up, given that Klaus' BAFTA win was decided by 6,500 members of the organisation - rather than Missing Link's Golden Globe being voted on by the mere 90 members of the HFPA.
