Batman Live, the giant stunts and story production that debuted over here in the UK last year (our review of the show HERE) will begin its run in the United States this September. The L.A. Times reports that the US tour will begin in Los Angeles for eight shows at the Honda Center in Anaheim from September 5th to the 9th, before moving to the Staples Center for a further eight shows between September 27th and the 30th. The full North American dates are set to be announced soon. Tickets go on sale from March 23rd, through Ticketmaster but can also be purchased at the venue box offices or by calling (800) 745-3000. Tickets will range between $29.50 to $103. What Culture's Simon Gallagher wrote of the show last August; "Crucially, this is not Nolans Batman, nor is it the darker, grimmer Bat of more modern comic books. There is a far more gleefully cartoonish presentation of the Batman universe, with elements of Tim Burtons Bat particularly in the characterisation of the villains mingling with less prominent pieces of Schumachers take on the comic book hero, all pushed through the glorious filter of Jim Lees outstanding artwork and design." "Instead of that, and thanks to the impressive wire work, aerial thrills and spills and incredible use of the stage area, Batman Live feels like an authentic as an adaptation in its own right, rather than suffering from Disney On Ice syndrome. And while the simple, lighter-toned story-telling is undoubtedly aimed at the child and parent audience, there are enough gasp-worthy moments aimed squarely at the fanboys and girls like the purposeful pause after Bruce Waynes announcement that he is Batman, and the grand unveiling of the Batmobile to justify the presence of so many groups of 20 something men in Batman (and oddly Superman) T-Shirts."
