5. What's Going On With Superman's Hearing?
Superman has the most selective - and therefore inconsistence - hearing abilities in Batman v Superman. The writers exploit this particular power to make their task easier, but in the process of doing so they accidentally create a bunch of plot holes. Because somehow, Superman is able to "hear" whenever Lois Lane is in trouble, no matter how far away she happens to be from him (he hears that she's in trouble when she's in Africa, remember, and he is then able to fly there in a matter of seconds). On the other hand, he can't hear when his own mother, Martha Kent, is in trouble, despite her being just a few miles away, tied to a chair. Shouldn't Clark have also been able to hear her screaming when she got captured originally, back in Smallville, even? He also fails to hear the bomb inside Wallace Keefe's wheelchair, moments before it explodes and kills a bunch of people... a little convenient, don't you think? How do these powers work? What is Superman able to hear and not able to hear? It's too vague!
