Batman V Superman: 10 Reasons It's Not As Bad As The Critics Are Saying

8. Ben Affleck Isn't Just OK; He's Fantastic

This point was covered in a lot more detail in another article, but it's worth mentioning it again here anyway: Ben Affleck is a great Batman, and his performance in Batman v Superman has been - generally speaking - downplayed by the critics.

Not many reviews have outright derided Affleck's performance, as such, but nowhere near enough of them have championed his turn as The Dark Knight to the extent that they should have. Which is a shame, really, given that Affleck delivers what is arguably the best and most memorable cinematic Batman to date.

This time around, he's beaten, bloody, and rough around the edges after twenty years fighting crime in Gotham, and Ben Affleck feels right with the character in ways that Christian Bale never quite did. He's a natural fit, as both superhero and Bruce Wayne.

Isn't Batman v Superman worth seeing for that very reason, then, given that it might well contain the best on-screen depiction of Batman to date? Absolutely.
