Batman V Superman: 12 Biggest Questions It Leaves Unanswered

3. Why Did Lex's Death Squad Have Personalised Bullets?

The Question: Alright, so let's accept that Lex has a rather ludicrous plan to lure Superman to Africa and frame him for a village massacre, but why on Earth would he then equip his mercenaries with personalised bullets that can be traced back to him? All it does is tie him to the incident and make his master plan all the more likely to backfire... The Likely Answer: The easy answer is "because it's a movie and movies are contrived", and while that would be a fine response to many of the movie's nagging issues (Why can Superman "detect" Lois in trouble but not Martha? Why didn't Wonder Woman use the Spear instead of Superman? Why didn't Superman and Batman just talk before fighting? Why did Batman just leave the Spear unattended?), this is a significant enough part of the plot that it feels like it deserves more digging. Perhaps it's really not lazy plotting at all but instead is meant to showcase Lex Luthor's flagrant egotism and millennial entitlement gone awry, that he thought he could put his stamp on his weaponry and get away with it. Or we are just grasping at straws because it's a really, really idiotic part of the movie?
