Batman V Superman: 18 Easter Eggs & Theories On The Soundtrack Titles
16. The Red Capes Are Coming
Luthor's immediately iconic line from the first trailer is also important enough to get its own track title, which is unsurprising when you pick away at the meaning. The title is a homage to "The Midnight Ride Of Paul Revere", the historical poem that tells the tell of the American militia rider who warned of impending attack by the British by shouting "the redcoats are coming, the redcoats are coming!" He's selling the idea that Superman has something dark and grand planned: whether in terms of more like him coming, or the militia who will inevitably join him and form his own private army (as per Batman's nightmare vision in the trailers). Ironically of course, it will be Superman and Lois Lane who are the real Revere like figures, warning of Luthor's nefarious intent. Curiously, it doesn't seem that Lex Luthor would even need Batman to destroy Superman if he's able to turn Metropolis' people entirely against him. Could it be that he doesn't actually account for Wayne's personal outrage and is forced to adapt his plan to include manipulating the two against one another?
