Batman V Superman: 34 Easter Eggs & References You Must See

6. The Bizarro Origin Parallels

Though Doomsday's origin owes something to the traditional image of the villain in the comics, he's actually much more like Bizarro. In the comics, Bizarro is initially created as a clone of General Zod (by Zod himself), and the idea of him as a mutation of "pure" Kyrptonian genes is definitely reflected in the way Doomsday is presented in Batman V Superman. Post-Crisis, the similarities are even more telling: in that origin, Bizarro is created by Lex Luthor, who attempts to clone Superman and ends up creating an abomination instead. The parallels surely can't have been accidental. There's also an element of classic Batman villain Solomon Grundy in there too, as he of course was brought back from the dead.
