Batman V Superman: 9 Major Concerns From The New Trailer
6. Jesse Eisenberg's Acting Looks Terrible
Oh, God: anybody who has spent the last few months defending Jesse Eisenberg being cast in the role of Lex Luthor (gulp!) stands to look a tad foolish now, given that the first proper look at the DC supervillain in this trailer has revealed an acting turn that appears... well, rather ridiculous, to be perfect honest. Really, undeniably ridiculous. Eisenberg's acting has the air of something from a high school play. To call it "hammy" would be an insult to pigs everywhere. Not to mention that it's campy as hell. Seriously, what's up with the scene in which he approaches Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne? "Boys!" he shrills in a weird, high voice, exaggerating his mannerisms to such a point of ludicrousness that it almost feels like he's appearing in an SNL sketch. His style is completely at odds with the blandness displayed by Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck. Then there's the little matter of Luthor's voice just, like, changing three times across the trailer. If you were convinced Eisenberg was the right choice for Luthor before you saw him in this footage, chances are that you've now changed your mind. Time to fret? Maybe.
