Batman V Superman: 9 Things Nobody Predicted

4. Superman€™s Handling Of Kryptonite

One of the biggest fundamentals of the Superman character is that green kryptonite is highly dangerous to him. The Big Blue Boy Scout can€™t get within any reasonable distance of the green rock before he starts to get majorly ill, with the risk of death a very real possibility. Best steer clear of that then, right? Err, maybe not.

Now whilst Supes would eventually end up apparently dying due to having grabbed on to a kryptonite spear, nobody predicted that the Last Son of Krypton would actually be used to carry the very same rock that is so deadly to him.

Sure, this marks Superman€™s actions down as that of a sacrificial nature, with him ultimately knowing that his own life was to come to an end purely to stop the hulking threat of Doomsday, but this all felt so, so off to many longtime DC fans.

Nobody predicted that the final act of the film would see Superman pick up kryptonite and use it as a weapon, and this was a major gripe that took a steaming dump on a significant part of Supes€™ comic book roots; usually he can't even touch the stuff without collapsing in a heap, yet here he could manage to pick it up, hold it tight, AND fly off towards his foe.
