Batman V Superman - Ultimate Edition: 11 Ways It Improves The Original
10. The Nairomi Massacre Actually Makes Sense
One of the big issues with the Nairomi sequence in the theatrical cut is that there's no logical reason for the world at large to believe that Superman had anything to do with the village massacre that took place there. After all, the bodies were riddled with bullets by Lex Luthor's henchmen, led by Anatoli Knyazev, and since when does Superman shoot people?
In the Ultimate Edition, though, Knyazev is shown burning the corpses with the same flamethrower he's seen sporting later in the movie, making it far more plausible that people would assume they had been burned by Superman's heat vision after he's lured there to save Lois.
Sure, any basic investigation of the bodies would probably still reveal bullets and bullet holes, but at least there's a logical through-line this time, as was crucially absent from the cinema version.
