20 Best Horror Movie Final Girls of the 2020s (So Far)

And now for a Final Girl who's sure to ruffle some feathers - that's right, Annie (Annie Hardy) from Rob Savage's wildly divisive found footage film Dashcam.

Pretty much all discussion about the film centered around Hardy's basically unbearably grating protagonist, many proclaiming that she was so unlikeable as to basically make the movie a miserable viewing experience.

Beyond being loud and obnoxious, Annie is also a MAGA-loving, vaccine-hating idiot, and it basically feels like Savage purposefully made her as detestable as humanly possible, to see whether he could still convince the audience to root for her by film's end.

And while the answer for most viewers seems to be "no," there is something refreshing about Dashcam's decision to offer up such an innately offputting central character and then put her so thoroughly through the wringer - only to have her survive to the end. 

Above all else, Hardy's performance as this boorish anti-anti-anti-hero is basically beyond reproach.
