17. The Stath Harpoons The Captain - Mutiny
The new Jason Statham action thriller Mutiny ranks among his weaker efforts of recent years, because while The Stath brings his usual grizzled badassery to the fore, this tediously low-energy Die Hard knock-off never even begins to deliver on the clear potential of "Statham On A Boat."
Yet at least the film's principal villain, the ship's duplicitous captain, Marko Madsen (Roland Møller), does get an amusingly over-the-top death befitting both his treachery and the movie's nautical setting.
After Statham's generically monikered hero Cole Reed stabs Marko's hand into a cargo box, he picks up a harpoon gun and fires it, the harpoon soaring straight through Marko's head and pinning him to the box.
Gloriously brutal stuff that surely had dads around the globe punching the air in glee.
It's really the only memorable scene from an otherwise painfully inconsequential film, but sometimes seeing the bad guy catch a well-earned harpoon through the face is exactly what the doctor ordered.
