11. Supergirl
Though James Gunn's Superman was a solid box office success in the summer of 2025, grossing $618.7 million, many questioned whether that success would be repeated by this past summer's follow-up Supergirl.
After all, without Gunn directing and Supergirl being a decidedly less popular character than the Man of Steel, it faced quite the uphill struggle to turn a profit against its sizable $185 million budget.
And when it was all said and done, Supergirl finished its run with just $126.4 million - an atrocious figure which made it one of the biggest blockbuster bombs of the decade.
Ultimately Supergirl flopped because its budget was too high, the mediocre marketing failed to sell it as particularly unique or interesting, and reviews were wildly mixed, many dismissing it as a middling attempt to copy the James Gunn formula.
It's an especially galling bomb so early in the life of Gunn's DC Universe, which surely hopes to course-correct with next year's Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow.
