20 Most Insane Box Office Flops Of The 2020s (So Far)
10. Chaos Walking
Remember Chaos Walking? This dystopian sci-fi action-thriller starred Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland while being adapted from a hugely popular novel - Patrick Ness' The Knife of Never Letting Go.
The $125 million blockbuster grossed just $27 million worldwide - an almost unimaginable bomb for a film fronted by Rey from Star Wars and the MCU's Spider-Man.
But Chaos Walking suffered from a few obvious disadvantages - it was poorly marketed and spent years in post-production purgatory, ultimately being released almost four years after shooting started, with $15 million being spent on reshoots following poor test screenings.
Throw in the ongoing impact of the pandemic in March 2021 and there just wasn't much incentive for many to leave their homes to watch a troubled production which was unsurprisingly panned by critics.
Thankfully for both Ridley and Holland, though, Chaos Walking was largely forgotten within a matter of weeks.
