Birds Of Prey Trailer Review: 7 Ups & 4 Downs
3. More Fantasy Sequences
Some of the best parts of Suicide Squad were Harley Quinn's visions of her idealised life. They punched through the grim darkness of the Squad's real world mission and gave us more of an insight into what was going on in Harley's head. Why wouldn't you want to see more of that.
Just as Todd Phillips' Joker explored the "real" world through the filter of Arthur Fleck's unhinged, delusional fantasies - leading to a situation where it's never quite clear what is real and what isn't - giving Harley more licence to explore the delightful weirdness in her mind isn't a bad thing.
That's a positive not least because Suicide Squad so callously over-looked the mental health issues and how the Joker managed to radicalise her that David Ayer initially intended to focus on.
