Black Panther Movie: 8 Ways Marvel Have Been Building Towards It For Years

7. Captain America's Shield Is Made Of Vibranium

Vibranium is a virtually indestructible metal that can only be found in Wakanda, and in 1940 Howard Stark discovered it while researching there. He brought some back to America, where he used it to forge Captain America€™s famous shield. Thanks to the quality of the metal the shield is able to absorb impacts of any kind; including gunfire, projectile blasts or blows by Thor€™s hammer Mjölnir. It€™s also lightweight so the Captain likes to use it as a Frisbee, in addition to straight up whacking people in the face with it. Special note is also made of just how rare the metal is with the army using their entire stockpile to create the shield; a story point that's referenced briefly again in Age Of Ultron. The vibranium/Black Panther connection isn€™t something most people would pick up on, but the link is another layer of back-story woven into the MCU.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
