Yes, this might seem like a fairly odd choice, but bare with me for a second. For a start, is there really that much difference between James Bond and Captain America? Bond is practically a superhero himself, using gadgets and cunning instead of, say, a massive vibranium shield. And Captain America: The Winter Soldier shows the Russo brothers understand their genre narratives.

Indeed, the James Bond franchise is a lot closer to the superhero genre than you might initially think: their villains tend to be similarly characterised and there's a bunch of morally ambiguous government types “counting on him”. In all honesty, The Winter Soldier gives the Russos a huge pass to try out anything, and besides, they've already proved through Civil War that they're capable of taking on a behemoth franchise and taming it to please fans.

Okay, so they might be busy with Infinity War for the next couple of years, but seeing the Russos take on Bond could be brilliant. What if they moved the tone of the franchise back to what it was in the seventies and eighties, treating Bond like a superhero, decking him out with more quirky gadgets than ever before. Skyfall and Spectre display a clear desire to head back in that direction; why not let the Russos be the ones to do it?
