Bumblebee: 10 Reasons To Be Excited

Bumblebee, as may have already been telegraphed by the shift to an 1980s setting, appears to be taking heavy inspiration from many classics of the era. Fans have noted the similarities shared with ET: The Extra-Terrestrial already, - with other hints of The Goonies and Flight of the Navigator for good measure - and with the recent popularity of other eighties throwbacks such as Stranger Things and IT: Chapter One, audiences seem hungry for films sharing the heart and warmth of the blockbusters of yesteryear.

For a franchise that seems to have taken on its own identity in modern times for messy action and big budget nonsense, its first spinoff looking back to the past for inspiration seems to be a move that will further make Bumblebee stand out not only from the shadow of Transformers, but from the rest of the Hollywood blockbusters to come.
