20 INSANE Horror Sequels We Almost Got
14. Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash
With Freddy vs. Jason being a sizable box office success in 2003, there were soon enough discussions of a sequel which tossed The Evil Dead's beloved Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) into the fray for a three-way dance tentatively titled Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash.
Horror fans were positively giddy at the prospect of seeing Ash throw down with two other horror icons, though it sadly never came to fruition.
It was only in 2024 that we finally got a clear answer about the sequel's demise, with Bruce Campbell revealing that while he was initially excited about Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash, he cooled on it after learning about the restrictive conditions for using Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees in the movie.
Basically, Ash wouldn't be able to kill either of them, nor would Campbell himself have any creative input in the film, prompting him to call it a "fight by committee."
This led Campbell to depart the project, and Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash lived on as a six-issue comic book released in 2007 and 2008 instead.
As fair as Campbell's reasoning is for walking away, it's a damn shame we never got to see such a delicious concept realised on the big screen.
