20 Upcoming Film & TV Shows That Just Got Cancelled

15. The Last Frontier

The Last Frontier
Apple TV+

The Jason Clarke-starring thriller series The Last Frontier aired on Apple TV+ from October through December of last year, and just two weeks after the season concluded, Apple announced it wouldn't be returning for season two.

The show, which stars Clarke as a U.S. Marshal who fights to protect his remote Alaskan town from violent inmates whose prison transport crash-lands nearby, was a solid ratings hit for Apple, continuing to rank behind only the streamer's biggest success of 2025, Pluribus.

No reason has been given for the cancellation, though one might speculate that Apple was disappointed with the rather lukewarm-at-best critical and audience response to the show.

Even with ratings being king, Apple clearly wants to be known as a platform for prestige, award-winning content - like, for example, Pluribus - and so that may well have coloured their decision not to renew The Last Frontier.

Shame, as the premise sure was a doozy alright.
