20 Upcoming Film & TV Shows That Just Got Cancelled
14. Nobody 3
The original Nobody was a modest surprise at the box office, the Bob Odenkirk-led action thriller grossing a respectable $57.5 million against a tight $16 million budget, which combined with strong streaming numbers led to a sequel being greenlit.
Nobody 2 was released back in August, at which point Odenkirk outlined his desire to make two additional sequels.
But any plans for a wider Nobody saga were put on ice after Nobody 2 underperformed at the box office, with the sequel grossing a disappointing $41 million despite receiving solid reviews.
Beyond the expectation from studios that sequels make more money than the original - especially when it's a word-of-mouth hit like Nobody - there's the fact that Nobody 2 cost a fair bit more than its predecessor, with a beefier $25 million budget.
Though Universal hasn't formally scrapped Nobody 3 yet, there's virtually no chance they roll the dice on another with these diminishing returns against greater costs.
It sucks, but the numbers just don't make sense for the studio.
