Captain America: Civil War - 10 Ways It’s Already Torn Up The Comics
7. Spider-Man Is A Bit-Part Player
Obviously it's something of a miracle that Tom Holland's Spider-Man is going to be in Civil War at all given how preposterous a notion that seemed only a few months ago but it's a shame he likely joined the party too late to really get involved. Spider-Man's siding with Tony Stark and the subsequent reveal of his secret identity was one of the cornerstones of the source material, especially when he changed his mind and sided with Cap instead and endured a savage beating for his troubles. It's not surprising that we didn't see Holland in the trailer as Marvel Studios will be wanting to keep specifics of the character under wraps, but it's hard to believe his role will be anywhere near as integral to the plot, not when the character was recovered from Sony when production was continuing apace. Instead of inhabiting the personal struggles that the SRA represents it's likely we'll briefly see Spidey observing events with interest from afar before working out how to approach his new life.
