8. The Scale Is Smaller But The Personal Cost Will Be Greater
It's not surprising that the scale of the MCU's civil war will be smaller than that of the comic that spawned it, there's simply less heroes to get involved. The original story featured the Fantastic Four and X-Men, both of which are owned by Fox, as well as unshown or TV only characters such as Punisher, Daredevil, Hercules, Namor and Cloak and Dagger. On the plus side these two relatively small teams facing off against each other should provide a greater emotional upheaval all around, not just between Iron Man and Captain America, but between Steve and Natasha, Black Widow and Hawkeye and other members of the opposing teams. This being a movie and not the comics, any death or serious injury is not as likely to be forgotten about or retconned in a hurry. We've seen these characters unite and fight to save the world (and each other) on multiple occasions, so rending them asunder will surely have a huge impact on a more personal level down the line.
