Captain America: Civil War Trailer - 8 Easter Eggs And References You Probably Missed
5. Poster Face
When General Ross delivers the Sokovia Accords document to the Avengers, telling them their vigilantism is something they can "no longer tolerate", we get a great shot of a morose Steve Rogers filling the frame yet looking incredibly small, shoulders dropped and head facing down at the indictment of his way of life. It's a striking image, and one that comes with some interesting contextual weight; it's a costume-less approximation of the poster for Captain America: The First Avenger, which saw a wartime Cap looking all serious with his shield. This may just be a callback, but it's also likely that the Russos are turning some of the fan marketing into more of an active piece of advertising; that poster of a split Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, which was doing the rounds before the film was even announced, has accidentally become one of the film's most iconic images (and likely will be better than whatever the studio themselves produce), so playing with that imagery isn't a bad idea.
