Captain America: Civil War Trailer - 8 Easter Eggs And References You Probably Missed

4. "Bad Guys"

Tony Stark. Genius, billionaire, philanthropist, Marvel villain. He's the most badass character in the MCU, kicking the whole thing off with a barrage of quips topped off with a large glass of scotch, and this time around he's the antagonist (at least to begin with). When he's revealed in the trailer to have been brought in to deal with Cap, you know sh*t's going to go down. And then he goes on to describe all the evil-doers The Avengers go up against as "bad guys". Erm... It's odd, right? Childish at worst and out of place given the seriousness of the context. Well, not quite. We've actually had Tony Stark use this line before. Go all the way back to the opening of the original Iron Man, when delivering the "weapon you only have to fire once" speech, Tony claims his Jericho missile will be so effective that "the bad guys won't even wanna come out of their caves". There it was a nice way to show his immature nature (and side-step naming any real world threats) and, while that's partially the case here, it also doubles a nice callback to a time when Stark was a heartless businessman working for morally questionable backers. How times change. Or not.
