Captain America: The Winter Soldier – 5 Things We Hope To See
2. Steve Rogers Finding Love
Romances can be pretty annoying, forced and unnecessary in superhero movies - see Thor and Jane Foster for example - but it would genuinely be nice to see Steve Rogers find happiness with a woman. Coming to terms with waking up seventy years after falling unconscious is tough going for anyone, but when it's because you're a truly noble hero who sacrificed himself trying to prevent New York from blowing up, it's even harsher. Steve Rogers now lives in a world completely alien to him. Technological advances, changes in language, changes in mannerisms and changes in the general way of life have occurred since he wound up frozen in ice and he needs to find a place in his new world. What better way for him to do so than by finding happiness with a good lady? He may well get the chance to meet his old flame - Peggy Carter - again in this movie. Whether or not there is time travel involved or if he meets a very old Carter in the present day remains to be seen - if indeed he meets her again at all - but he will know that their chance is done and dusted and messing around with history like that is inadvisable. But what of Sharon Carter? Emily VanCamp (pictured) will play Peggy's niece - a S.H.I.E.L.D agent in the present day and having her hook up with Rogers would be quite fitting. Here's hoping it happens. There's certainly a hint in the trailer that others are attempting to help Rogers find love - Black Widow says "you know, if you asked Kristin out from statistics, she'd probably say yes", but Rogers simply replies that he's too busy. With Sharon Carter around, however, his opinion on the matter may change.
