Casting A Live Action Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood Movie
6. Wrath/Fuhrer King Bradley - Jon Hamm
This might sound strange, but originally our choice to play the character of Wrath was Tom Selleck. Although the former Magnum P.I actor would've been fantastic as the leader of Amestris and rage-filled homunculi, at 75-years old, it might be too much of a stretch to imagine him slicing and dicing his foes.
However, just because Selleck isn't really a viable choice these days, there's still a fantastic actor who would be brilliant as Fuhrer Bradly and that would be Jon Hamm. Regardless of what role he's playing, the 49-year old always has a standout performance and he'd need to have one to play a character like Wrath.
On the outside, he's the sort of leader who isn't afraid to have a joke around with the people underneath him. Hamm has proven in movies like Bridesmaids that he's got the offbeat comedic chops to deliver some of the dry, nonchalant lines that make the character so surprisingly funny.
However, when he's Wrath, the film needs an actor who can capture the characters unrelenting, yet focused rage. Hamm might not come across as a swash-buckling murderer, but he showed us that he can play a cold-blooded bad guy in like Baby Driver. We'd love to see a similar, although less reckless, approach to the Fuhrer of Amestris.
