Casting Ava DuVernay's New Gods
1. Big Barda - Gwendoline Christie
Really, if DC were to cast anyone else as this character, they would be fools.
For a start, Christie would brilliantly fit the physicality of Big Barda, her height and penchant for fight scenes, as seen in Game of Thrones, being perfect for the New God.
During her aforementioned role in Thrones, the actor also conveyed a charm and some fantastic, if not the most blatant, humour - qualities that would fit the more personal moments between Mister Miracle and Barda wonderfully. Such moments were some of the best in Tom King's recent New Gods-centric book so with the writer on board for the movie, they'll hopefully make the transition to the big screen as well.
Basically, Christie would be the perfect one to play Big Barda from every perspective and if DC were to take any of the suggestions from this list it should be this one.
