Casting Harry Potter TV Show Reboot

3. Ron Weasley - Noah Jupe

Ron Weasley Noah Jupe
Warner Bros./Paramount Pictures

Ron Weasley is the ginger-haired best friend, played by Rupert Grint in all eight of the films. He is Harry's first friend at school, owner of Scabbers the rat and, eventually, Harry's brother-in-law. Noah Jupe starred in A Quiet Place as Marcus Abbot, where for the majority of the film, he is largely silent.

Asking a child actor to star in a mostly silent film is a huge task and Jupe delivered in spades. He was able to emote and express things with just a look in his eyes, which calls to mind many of the moments from the Philosopher's Stone. Ron needs to be the funny, sarcastic and a little bit bonkers boy in the dormitory - Jupe has already shown he can go a bit nuts when the situation calls for it.

Having him star alongside our other two picks for lead actors feels like a safe bet. While A Quiet Place may be the biggest credit on his name, he dominated the screen in Honey Boy, where he played a fictionalized version of Shia LaBeuf. He was sweet, earnest and full of mischief, which combined is effectively the character write up for Ron Weasley. A touch of hair dye sorts the ginger issue, the acting chops are there. He's our Ron!
