Casting Harry Potter TV Show Reboot

2. Hermione Granger - Tamara Smart

Hermione Granger is one of the key characters in British literature of the last twenty years. When Harry Potter and the Cursed Child premiered, the role, which had been played by Emma Watson, was then taken over by Noma Dumezweni.

Tamara Smart has appeared in CBBC's The Worst Witch as Enid Nightshade. Although this may be stretching the rules for playing an eleven year old, at fifteen Smart is more than capable of playing the joint lead in the series - and already has magical education to boot!

While some questioned the choice to cast Dumezweni as an adult Hermione, the character's race is never stated in the books. Smart is a fantastic actor, with experience already in working in the industry. While hardly a dealbreaker, she has the bushy hair part nailed! She appeared as Juliet Butler in Artemis Fowl and, though we have feelings about that film overall, she was an excellent choice to star alongside Nonzo Anozie, not to mention Ferdia Shaw who has already featured on this list.

The original Harry Potter films were lacking in diversity, with a predominantly white cast. As one of the main stars of the film, Smart would be ideally placed to help the franchise move forward into the 21st century.
