Casting Star Trek: The Next Generation Reboot

As the curious and courageous Helmsman (and later engineer) for the enterprise, Geordi La Forge was always full of a youthful energy and optimism that many of his crewmates lacked.

While Lakeith Stanfield usually plays more low energy characters like his run in Sorry To Bother You and Uncut Gems, his natural eloquence and his ability to convey vulnerability would make him ideal for the young and intelligent Geordi.

Considering Lakeith is experiencing something of a rise in fame after stints in both Get Out and Knives Out, a good run on an acclaimed show like Star Trek would be a wise decision for the up and coming actor.

As a blind character who "sees" through the help of a visor, La Forge was an important figure in showcasing characters with disabilities in media, and as Stanfield has previously been open in addressing issues around such stigmatic subjects like mental health, character and actor would go hand in hand.

Also, thankfully, with advancements in special effects, Stanfield probably won't be subjected to long, head squeezing hours in a visor like LeVar Burton was, it'll just be a few quick clicks in post. 24th Century, here we come.
