Charlize Theron Wants Mad Max Prequel
Atomic Blonde star would "love" to reprise role.
Charlize Theron received critical acclaim across the board for her performance as Imperator Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road, so it comes as little surprise that she's eager to reprise the role.
Speaking to Variety, the Atomic Blonde star admitted that she would "love" to revisit the part, and dropped a strong hint that this could happen in a prequel.
I’d love to. There were three scripts. They were written as back stories to Max’s character and to Furiosa’s character. But at the end of the day, this thing lives and breathes with [director] George [Miller]. I think Warner Bros. knows that. We are all waiting for him to show us the way.”
Released in 2015, Fury Road is the fifth entry in the Mad Max series, following Tom Hardy's eponymous Road Warrior as he joins Furiosa on an exhilarating journey across apocalyptic Australia.
Given the movie's widespread plaudits, Oscar success and box office feats, there's a good chance that Miller will get the chance to make another Mad Max, and it sounds like the ball is very much in the filmmaker's court.
Theron will make her next cinematic outing in Atomic Blonde, due to arrive in UK theatres on 9 August.
