20 Upcoming Movie Sequels You Had NO IDEA About
8. King Conan
Conan the Barbarian is the film that well and truly put Arnold Schwarzenegger on the map back in 1982, and its enormous global success led to the decidedly less-successful Conan the Destroyer just two years later.
All the same, Schwarzenegger's fast-expanding fame still made the prospect of a threequel attractive to Hollywood, yet amid Arnie's ever-busy schedule, planned threequel Conan the Conqueror entered development hell.
By the 2010s, the prospect of a King Conan film focused on an older Conan was floated, though despite the intriguing premise didn't pick up much serious traction.
With Arnie now in his late-seventies, most fans had seemingly given up on King Conan ever getting made, but back in March, Mission: Impossible filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie was announced to be writing and directing a new version of King Conan with Arnie set to star.
According to Schwarzenegger, the film will be focused on an aged, complacent Conan being forced out of his kingdom and having to fight his way back in.
While the clock is certainly ticking considering Arnie's age, McQuarrie is nothing if not an intriguing pick to get this one over the line.
