20 Most Divisive Movie Scenes Ever

2. The Nightmarish Sex Scene - Munich

Munich Eric Bana

Steven Spielberg's superb historical thriller Munich concludes with Mossad agent protagonist Avner (Eric Bana) heading to his new home in Brooklyn where he's shown having sex with his wife, Daphna (Ayelet Zurer).

But Spielberg makes the curious choice to cross-cut the lovemaking with flashes of the Munich Olympics massacre.

This was seemingly intended to show that Avner's mission to assassinate the Palestinians responsible for the attack has left him with PTSD, such that he can't even enjoy base pleasures without thinking about the horrific incident.

Yet some found the juxtaposition awkward at best and unintentionally hilarious at worst, that the editing almost seems to imply, by accident of course, that Avner is getting off to thoughts of the massacre.

For better or worse it's certainly a bold, strong swing of a choice, and an especially interesting one coming from Spielberg, who so rarely features sex in his movies at all.
