20 Horror Movie Scenes They Were FORCED To Cut
8. Drury Loses His Face - Spiral
The mostly forgotten ninth Saw film Spiral features a character, Detective Drury (K. C. Collins), who rather oddly disappears from the story without any sort of explanation.
But there's a production reason for this - he was originally scripted to die at the hands of Jigsaw, and though this scene was filmed, according to director Darren Lynn Bousman, it received a ton of pushback from - you guessed it - our friends at the MPA.
Bousman called it "by far the most gruesome" and "mean-spirited" death in the movie, and it would've apparently involved Drury having his face effectively torn off.
A photo of the gnarly end result is out there for interested parties, and it's admittedly easy to see why the MPA thought it was beyond the pale.
As Bousman realised the central story still worked without Drury's demise, he agreed to cut the scene in order to ensure that Spiral still got its planned wide theatrical release.
