Danny Boyle's Films Ranked From Worst To Best
9. Millions (2004)
And now we have what is basically the black sheep of Boyle's filmography, his only non-R-rated movie, revolving around a boy who discovers a bag of cash and must decide what to do with it.
You know exactly what the message is going to be here, and though it's fairly trite to that end, Boyle has a knack for bringing out the best in just about any material, and that's certainly true here.
His gorgeous direction helps accentuate the movie's more surreal elements, while young Alex Etel gives a stellar, heartbreaking performance in the central role.
It's Boyle's smallest film and you'd be forgiven for forgetting he made it, but it's also more engaging than its fairly schmaltzy premise suggests.
