6. Millions (2004)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73zYjrpUd04 Millions, with its plot about two young boys who find a stash of money and have differing ideas about what to do with it, might sound like nothing more than a harmless kid's film, but true to form, Boyle manages to make something a whole lot more engaging. Though kids will love it, Millions also has plenty of appeal for adult viewers; it's odder and much darker than most similar films, yet Boyle has a perfect handle on the tone, and manages to make a film that engages with both the heart and mind all at once. Supremely lively and excellently acted by its young leads, Millions returns to similar themes of Shallow Grave albeit in a far less insidious way with its treatment of money, and is on the whole a cracking morality tale that never condescends. My only real complaint is that on occasion the colourful direction gets a little bit cloying, like you're watching an orange juice advert or something.
