DC Extended Universe: Ranking Every Upcoming Film By Anticipation

10. Harley Quinn Solo

DC Cinematic Universe
Empire/Warner Bros.

Over the summer, word got out that Margot Robbie was working on spinning off the character of Harley Quinn into her own project pending both the reception to her performance in Suicide Squad and the overall success of the film itself. Critically, of course, the film got trampled, but its financial success coupled with the positive response to Robbie's Harley led to the announcement that her pet project would be moving forward.

With no Suicide Squad sequel yet lined up nor any indication if Harley will be turning up in any of the other DCEU films, it's hard to pinpoint where her film could be released among the rest of the slate or even what exactly her story would entail.

Aside from the Joker, Harley's been associated with a number of other characters over the years, particularly her fellow Gotham City Sirens, Poison Ivy and Catwoman, and last month's announcement that Christina Hodson would be penning the film has suggested that the project has evolved from a solo film into a female-driven ensemble piece, meaning that those characters will likely be joining her.

The idea of a female-centric adventure is an enticing one, and the very fact that Robbie's popular Harley will be involved will guarantee people's attention when it arrives. Ultimately, though, the project still has a long road ahead of it before cameras actually start rolling and it turns into a reality, so for now, it's hard to get too excited until it takes a more solid shape.
