Seeing as Fox already did the time travel shtick with Days Of Future Past, it's ripe for Deadpool's fourth-wall p*ss-taking irreverence, were Cable to follow a similar story strand back from the future. If they cast the right uptight, super-serious older gent (Jon Hamm, say - even Rob Liefeld agrees) to play the PTSD-ridden telekinetic with a penchant for pouches, we could have a great double act with him stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Ryan Reynolds ADHD-dynamo.
