Disney+: 10 Original Movies We Want To See

2. A Darth Maul Live-Action Origin

If the hypothetical Obi Wan movie has one thing in common with Solo, it’s that we know where it’s going. This isn’t always an issue; Better Call Saul made a hugely successful show with this roadblock. However, knowing too much about a character can lessen interest in their origins and can limit storytelling with writers needing to maintain continuity.

Darth Maul is another massively popular character in Star Wars, but he’s far less limited than Obi Wan or Han Solo. Yes, we know he’s defeated by Obi Wan at the end of The Phantom Menace, but away from the main series it’s revealed he survived being sliced in half and now has a set of cybernetic legs, so there are possibilities to go in both directions.

He’s appeared in several different other off main series Star Wars storylines, but many of these were declared non-canon when Disney acquired them. Still, it’s hard to fully know where everyone’s at, so perhaps a total reboot of the character would be best.

Star Wars could to tell much darker, more adult stories than it currently does. The Mandalorian could fit the bill, but a grisly origin for Darth Maul would do the trick too.
