Disney+: 10 Original Movies We Want To See
1. The Nightmare Before Christmas 2
Despite the so-so Alice In Wonderland getting a sequel, Tim Burton is usually reluctant to meddle with his movies’ legacies by tacking sequels on to them. However, Alice grossed a staggering $1 billion, becoming the fifth highest grossing movie ever when it was released, so there’s mitigating circumstances with Alice.
The Nightmare Before Christmas, while picking up a massive cult following over the years, can’t boast such heady numbers. That’s not to say there’s not demand for a sequel though, and they’ve even announced one; of sorts.
DJ Milky and Studio Dice are collaborating on a comic, to be published by Tokyo Pop, which focuses on Jack’s dog Zero. Entitled ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas: Zero’s Journey’, the comic will be a new look at the events of the famous movie. It’s not much, but it’s something.
Why is there not much though? Disney and Burton clearly have a good relationship, as he was hired for Dumbo. And the characters are so popular they’re making a comic book about the lead character’s dog.
If they make The Nightmare Before Christmas 2 a showpiece feature of Disney+, it could prove to be the killer app for consumers not swayed by Marvel and Star Wars.
