Doctor Strange 2: 8 Ways It Could Change The MCU Forever

3. By Making Strange The Leader Of The Avengers

In the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame, the current status of the Avengers isn't really clear. Is there even a main team anymore? Who's leading it? What's their base of operations, now that Avengers Compound has been levelled?

We're bound to get some firm answers as Phase Four progresses, and Doctor Strange 2 might be the first movie to provide them. A synopsis for the film was recently released, teasing Strange's role as a "central figure" in the superhero team:

"Now that Iron Man and Captain America have left after a fierce battle in Avengers: Endgame, former genius surgeon and the strongest magician of them all, Doctor Strange, is expected to play an active role as a central figure in the Avengers."

Now, it's important to note that this synopsis came from Marvel Japan, so certain things could be lost in translation. It's also important to point out the word "expected", which means that Strange leading the Avengers isn't 100% guaranteed.

That said, it's obviously a strong possibility. There are other candidates of course - Thor, Carol Danvers, Sam Wilson - but Strange feels like the most natural fit. Unlike Thor and Danvers, he's actually based on Earth, and he's also way more capable than Wilson, who doesn't even have some of that Steve Rogers super-strength.

If he does become the heart of the team, it would be fascinating to see how the notoriously egotistical Strange deals with those leadership duties, while also giving the Avengers the most powerful head-honcho they've ever had.
