17. The Runaways
As revealed prior to the release of the film, one of the mages at Kamar-Taj is Tina Minoru played by Linda Louise Duan. She is a link to The Runaways comics universe, which has long been mooted as a possibility for a future Marvel movie adaptation.
She is the mother of Nico Minoru, one of the Runaway group of heroes. In the comics, Nico wields a powerful magical weapon known as the Staff Of One, which we also see Tina wield in the film.
Tina also appeared in the prequel comic setting up Kaecilius' turn to the dark side...
