Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness: 10 HUGE Missed Opportunities
3. It Didn't Link With Either Loki Or Spider-Man: No Way Home
In spite of this being the first MCU property named for the multiverse itself, the Doctor Strange sequel was not the first movie to actually revolve around the concept. Both Loki and Spider-Man: No Way Home previously looked into such a phenomenon.
With Loki on Disney+, this came in the form of the TVA, and He Who Remains working to keep the Sacred Timeline intact. When he was killed by Sylvie, immeasurable universes split off and began a ‘multiversal war’. In Spider-Man however, the multiverse was ripped thanks to a spell cast by Strange himself.
So, this made the third time the multiverse was looked at in the MCU, but this was linked to neither of the previous times. With the Multiverse of Madness being the next release after Strange himself tampered with the fabric of reality in No Way Home, it surely would have made more sense for this movie to act almost as a sequel rather than a completely separate event.
Three times in quick succession the multiverse has been explored, and not one of them had anything to do with the others. We all know that Kevin Feige has a plan for the next few years of the MCU, but with so many different stories being told, it almost doesn't feel like it right now.
